PRIVO builds global visibility in youth online privacy and safety with help from VEDP’s VALET program

As children’s online privacy and safety regulations for children and teens accelerate around the world, PRIVO is helping companies navigate the increasingly complex digital landscape. The Virginia-based provides privacy compliance services for businesses engaging with minors through its signature Kids Privacy Assured™ program, alongside identity, age assurance, and consent management solutions that help companies meet regulatory requirements and create safer, more privacy-respecting digital experiences for young people worldwide. Its work sits at the intersection of privacy, compliance, and child protection, giving PRIVO a distinct role in a field where regulatory expectations are rising quickly and trusted solutions are increasingly important. For PRIVO, expanding internationally meant identifying where its expertise could meet rising demand — and doing so as a small company in a dynamic and highly specialized sector.

PRIVO had the technical expertise and market experience to compete internationally, but breaking into new markets required more than a strong product. The company needed targeted insight into where regulatory change was creating demand, which conversations mattered most, and how to build credibility with international decision-makers. VEDP’s Virginia Leaders in Export Trade (VALET) program helped PRIVO turn that early market intelligence into a practical international growth strategy, connecting research with direct engagement through travel, trade missions, event opportunities, and critical compliance and security certification work.

Building on that work, VEDP provided PRIVO with market research assistance that helped evaluate priority countries and identify Australia as an important opportunity. Australia stood out in part because the country was conducting a landmark Age Assurance Technology Trial to evaluate the real-world performance, privacy, usability, and security of age assurance technologies across sectors including social media, gaming, online retail, and other digital platforms. The trial created a timely opening for PRIVO to demonstrate how its solutions could support emerging online safety requirements.

For PRIVO, those opportunities put the company’s expertise in front of the audiences actively shaping the future of online safety in their respective countries. Engagement with regulators, global technology companies, potential customers, partners, and industry influencers helped PRIVO demonstrate not only what its tools could do, but why privacy-centered age assurance matters for governments and platforms seeking practical ways to protect young users online.

“VEDP and the VALET program helped us be present in markets and conversations we could not have reached on our own,” said PRIVO CEO Denise Tayloe. “That support gave PRIVO the visibility, credibility, and relationships needed to compete globally as demand for children’s online privacy and safety solutions grows.”

With VALET support, PRIVO attended the Global Age Assurance Summit in Manchester, England and participated in a trade mission to Australia, where the company connected directly with regulators and global teams working on emerging children’s online safety requirements. Those opportunities helped PRIVO demonstrate its capabilities, strengthen its brand, and remain visible in the competitive international market. PRIVO’s participation in Australia’s age assurance work further validated the company’s technology, with recognition across multiple major categories and the maximum technology readiness level in areas including age verification, age estimation, parental controls, and consent.

As global markets continue to advance new rules around digital safety, PRIVO sees opportunities in Australia, India, Brazil, and Europe. With support from VEDP and the VALET program, the company has strengthened its position as a Virginia-based global provider helping businesses prepare for the next generation of online privacy and protection requirements.
