AccuTec Revamps Key Processes With Help from VEDP’s Supply Chain Optimization Program

AccuTec, Inc., is a recognized leader in innovative surgical, histology, dermatology, beauty, food, fiber, glass, flooring, trade professional, and DIY blades and tools.

Since 1875, when Star Razor sold its first single-edge safety razor, this company has been built on innovative design engineering. That’s why the company answered the call during World War II, shifting production from razors to ammunition until peace was declared.

Today, the company, now known as AccuTec, Inc., is a recognized leader in innovative surgical, histology, dermatology, beauty, food, fiber, glass, flooring, trade professional, and DIY blades and tools. Tradesmen, surgeons, barbers, manufacturers, and DIYers rely on AccuTec blades to perform their jobs.

The Problem: AccuTec’s manufacturing operations required the introduction of formalized supply chain processes to support scalable business growth alongside increased production output. Without standardized improvements, AccuTec was limited by inefficient procedures, leading to bottlenecks both in their business operations and on the manufacturing floor.

The Solution: VEDP’s Supply Chain Optimization Program (SCOP) supported AccuTec’s goal of streamlining their supply chain processes through a customized supply chain assessment process that helped identify specific pain points within their business and manufacturing operations.

Once the opportunities for improvement were identified, SCOP through its consultant network, guided AccuTec in refining production scheduling, rationalizing of stock keeping units, and right-sizing inventory to better align with customer demand, reduce holding costs, and prevent stockouts. The company also implemented material requirements planning improvements that led to smoother, more efficient supply chain management.

By applying these strategies, AccuTec has seen year-end and year-over-year improvements in inventory levels and a more efficient, streamlined supply chain.
