Ready, AIM, Export!!
The Accessing International Markets (AIM) Program helps companies from around Virginia that are new-to-export, or entering a new market, turn their leads into sales.  AIM participants are taught to adopt a pro-active, systematic approach to the export process while they simultaneously pursue sales in a new country.  In return, participants are connected with key information, resources and contacts to support their success in the global marketplace. Participant Requirements

  • Clients work with AIM Team to identify and verify target country and then to develop and implement a custom AIM Market Access Plan (MAP) for their product and market, incorporating the ten steps of export.

  • AIM Team meets with clients at their facilities (month 1, 4, 6 and 12).

  • Clients attend one-day orientation and three half-day seminars on ten steps of export (Jan., Jul., Oct., Dec.)

  • Clients attend one-day Virginia Conference on World Trade.

  • Clients travel on business to target country within one year of entering the program.

Applicant Criteria

  • Applicants must have significant Virginia operations plus

  • Be incorporated at least 2 years

  • Employ ten or more employees

  • Generate at least $1 million in annual sales revenue


Application Process

  • Space in the program is limited to twenty companies per year.

  • The year-long AIM classes start every quarter in March, June, September and December.

  • Five applications are chosen each quarter to enter the competitive program.

  • Applications are reviewed regionally on a first come, first served basis.
