BIO

Carolyn Jewell, an International Trade Events Assistant, has been with the International Trade Division since November 1992, and with the Virginia Economic Development Partnership (VEDP) and, prior to that, the Virginia Department of Transportation for 36 years combined. In her current position, Carolyn, is responsible for logistics relating to Inward Bound Trade Missions and the bi-annual statewide visits of all the Overseas Trade Reps. Beside travel and logistical requirements, she arranges for one-on-one client meetings for overseas reps to meet with Virginia companies to export their Virginia products.

Carolyn is also heavily involved with all the events of the Virginia Leaders in Export Trade (VALET) Program and the Accessing International Markets (AIM) Program for new class orientations, graduations and quarterly meetings. During her earlier tenure at VEDP, she worked with the Sites & Building Program; in Communications & Promotions; assisted with administrative/personnel functions in the HR Office and also served as Assistant to the Director of the Agency before taking on international activities.

Carolyn has attended professional training courses at J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College as well as other management and computer training classes. She holds a training certificate for "Community Economic Development" from the Virginia Institute for Economic Development from Virginia Tech.

Carolyn has extensive personal travel and cruise experience - dubbed as the "Cruise Queen" and she enjoys scenery and cultures from other countries. She has visited Alaska; Aruba; Austria; Dominican Republic; Grand Cayman Islands; Hawaii; Israel; Italy; Jamaica; Maui; Mexico, Cancun - Playa del Carmen; St. Kitts; and St. Martin.
